Education and Technology: ChatGPT & OpenAI

Education should be out ahead of culture, not lagging behind, which of course is it's actual tendency. History is in the making, right now, and we can watch it unfold:

Yes, ChatGPT (OpenAI).

Instead of lamenting how students are going to use it (or are already using it) to create faker fake writing assignments, and thus barring its use, educators should ditch all the fake writing assignments immediately and teach students how to maximize their use of ChatGPT (and similar technology) to students' enormous advantage.

The learning potential, along with the creative and problem-solving potential, and other uses of Chat GPT (and related technology) are huge. It's another milestone in our evolution as a society and as humanity. It will change the way we approach almost everything, moreso than the smart phone. There are huge benefits to be discovered and unfolded.

Educators should not fight it, complain about it, hate it, resist it, ban it, or ignore it. We should learn about it, use it, apply it, and teach it. We should get out in front of it.

Educators should lead the way into our future. Educators should teach students more things that matter today, and that will matter tomorrow, and less things that mattered yesterday, last year, last century.

P.S. The fake writing assignments increasingly given to students for so many decades are actually harmful anyway. Future generations of students will only benefit from their passing.
